Prove me – He proves to see if we are worthy--to see if we love him best or love self best. R5914:1

Prove me .. my heart – Psa. 139:1-2. This is part of the Song of Moses and the Lamb. |
3 For thy loving-kindness is before mine eyes, and I have walked in thy truth. |

thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes – We can see the loving character of our God as manifest in the Divine Plan of the Ages.
I have walked in thy truth – The church, seeing God's character causes them to respond by faithfully walking in His Truth. |
4 I have not sat with vain persons, neither have I gone in with dissemblers; |

5 I have hated the congregation of evil-doers, and I have not sat with the wicked. |

6 I will wash my hands in innocency, and will encompass thine altar, O Jehovah, |
|
I will wash my hands – The hands indicate activity. In order to properly be active in the Lord's service we must first be clean, thus the washing of the hands.
So will I compass thine altar – This is the altar of sacrifice. The bullock (picturing our Lord Jesus) was sacrificed on the brazen altar. This provides for our Justification. |
7 That I may cause the voice of thanksgiving to be heard, and declare all thy marvellous works. |

publish – Witness, Tell of thy wonderful works as shown in the Divine Plan. |
8 Jehovah, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thy glory dwelleth. |

9 Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with men of blood; |

10 In whose hands are evil devices, and their right hand is full of bribes. |
|
|
11 But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity. Redeem me, and be gracious unto me. |

12 My foot standeth in an even place; in the congregations will I bless Jehovah. |
